The Consultation

The first consultation will normally take about 1 hour.

We will discuss your problem and I will explain any conventional diagnosis you may have had. The aim being to really understand your condition, it's causes, what is happening in your body and how it affects your day to day life.

A full medical history will be taken.

This will include any family illnesses, childhood illnesses, a list of any conventional drugs being taken (you will not be asked to stop taking medication prescribed by a Doctor but your options may be discussed).
Your diet and life style will be discussed and advice may be given.

Each system of the body and your individual constitution will be examined to build a complete picture of
You.

Your Blood Pressure and pulse will be taken and your tongue examined and any physical examination deemed necessary will be explained and carried out with your permission.

A herbal medicine containing from 3 to 10 different herbs blended together may be prescribed in the form of a tincture, a tea or a cream.

These I make up myself from my own dispensary either immediately or post to you.

Advice may be given on nutritional supplements.

I will also suggest orthodox investigation or referral to your GP if necessary.

Healing is a partnership with the practitioner, patient and the herbal medicine all working together to restore the body to health.

A second appointment if necessary will normally follow in two weeks, subsequent ones monthly or longer depending on the illness. These visits are to assess progress and check your response to the treatment. Your prescription may need to be changed as your condition changes and as other aspects of your life alter.

For some problems once stabilised a repeat prescription may be given with appointments at longer intervals.
